Top seeds step onto Ahoy's indoor courts
The CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel P2 moves into its main draw on Tuesday, with the men's first round starting at 6:30 PM local time inside Rotterdam Ahoy and continuing Wednesday at noon. World No. 1s Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia head the 28-pair men's field as top seeds, with Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto — beaten finalists at the last edition of this event — seeded second. Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger slot in at three, and Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno round out the top four.
The women's draw, expanded to 24 pairs, gets underway Wednesday at noon with defending champions Delfina Brea and Gemma Triay as top seeds. Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez sit at two, while Ariana Sanchez and Andrea Ustero arrive as the tournament's third seeds fresh off their Paris Major title. The total prize pool for the week is €264,534, with quarter-finals through the final broadcast on Red Bull TV and earlier rounds streamed on Premier Padel's YouTube channel.
An indoor test after a run of outdoor Platinums
Rotterdam's switch to indoor courts marks a change of rhythm for a tour that has spent recent weeks outdoors, most recently at the FIP Platinum in Lyon, where Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal claimed the title on Sunday before travelling straight to the Netherlands in form. Coello and Tapia arrive chasing another title in a season where their grip on the world No. 1 ranking has been repeatedly tested by Galan and Chingotto, setting up a potential rematch of their recent finals should both pairs advance through the early rounds.
Play runs through October 4, with the round of 16 on October 1, quarter-finals on October 2, semi-finals on October 3 and the final on October 4 at 4:00 PM. Rotterdam is the first stop of a three-week European swing that continues with the Germany P2 (October 5-11) and the Milano P1 (October 12-18), giving the tour's leading pairs little room to rest before the next Race points are on the line.
A Race battle that keeps tightening
The main draw arrives with the season's biggest storyline still unresolved. Coello and Tapia sit atop the Premier Padel Race with 20,454 points after their Paris Major win, with Galan and Chingotto trailing by 2,165 points on 18,289 — a gap that has shrunk and widened repeatedly over the year. Coello and Tapia have collected nine titles in 2026, from the Riyadh P1 in February through Alpine Paris in September, while Galan and Chingotto have won seven, most recently the Madrid P1 at the start of this month. Both pairs have been nearly unbeatable in raw match terms: Galan and Chingotto carry a 64-10 record for the year, just ahead of Coello and Tapia's 62-7.
Rotterdam Ahoy is hosting Premier Padel for a third consecutive year, having introduced the Dutch stop to the international tour in 2024. Its indoor arena gives the Netherlands a fixed home on the calendar even as the sport's European growth continues to push new cities toward bidding for tour dates.
